Build your first Budget / Estimate
Collect costs explicitly, then choose how to look at them.
These guides use fictional practice data and generic EUR amounts. The screenshots show the October 2026 interface. Adapt example dates and planning periods if practicing later. Recording bills and payments does not transfer money.
Start with Create a cost and your first Budget or Handle a variable bill.
Your first Budget
A silent, paced screen presentation using real Catalog captures and fictional EUR examples. Outlines and Click / Type / Look here arrows identify the action. The decorative title artwork is AI-generated. Open the full guide for the illustrated transcript.
Create the container
Search Budget in New Record and choose Budget / Estimate. Name it for its purpose: Household, Online services or My first budget. Continue to the full record editor. The Cost elements picker is designed for several records; you do not need a comma-separated list of names.

Add the costs
Use Add beside each cost. Search by name, code or currency, and narrow the candidates by folder or tag. Add all matching selects the current matches; it is not a live rule that automatically includes future records. Remove only detaches a cost from this estimate; it does not delete the cost record.

Read the first result
Save the estimate, then open its overview. The default planning period is 12 months including this month, beginning on the first day of the current month. Forecast uses the billing dates and actual variable invoices where entered, with expected amounts for variable occurrences still awaiting a bill. The monthly and annualized equivalents are comparison figures, not new payment instructions.

A useful first check
A 12 EUR monthly subscription, a 48 EUR annual renewal and an 85 EUR one-time purchase total 277 EUR over twelve months when those bills fall in the period. An annual renewal in November should create a November jump in billing-date views. Select Smoothed budget equivalent only when you deliberately want a regular reserve rather than that payment pattern.
