BIM Execution Plan Outline Template
Start a BIM Execution Plan in DocStudio with sections for roles, information requirements, coordination, quality, security and handover.
The BIM Execution Plan Outline template is a DocStudio starter for preparing a project BEP.
It is intentionally an outline, not a completed project-specific BEP. The user fills the project details, removes sections that do not apply, adds project standards, and connects the document to the actual appointment, information requirements, CDE rules, model exchange rules, and delivery milestones.
Template Values capture the main document metadata:
- Project name
- Client or appointing party
- Lead appointed party
- Project code
- Issue date
- Revision
- Status
- Author
- Reviewer or approver
The outline includes these sections:
- Document Control
- Project Information
- BEP Purpose and Scope
- Information Requirements
- Roles and Responsibilities
- CDE and Collaboration Workflow
- Information Delivery Milestones
- Model Uses and Exchange Requirements
- Naming, Status, Revision, and Classification
- Quality Assurance and Coordination
- Security, Access, and Handover
- Appendices
It also includes example tables for document control, information requirements, responsibility matrix, and delivery milestones.
For background before editing the template, see the Knowledge Hub guide BIM Execution Plan: What It Is and What It Should Include. The guide explains the content in more detail; this template gives the user a document structure to start from.
A platform workflow is useful when the BEP becomes controlled project information: the final DocStudio file can be saved in the right Company or Project context, attached to a FileStudio record, reviewed through approval workflows, and linked to supporting TableStudio registers such as responsibility matrices, information delivery schedules, risk registers, or meeting action trackers.
