Download Family Documents

The Family Tree’s Documents count uses its saved starting Person, scope, family hops and privacy settings. Save chart preferences and the collection after changing those settings. Open the count to see the grouped files belonging to permitted, non-redacted chart members, eligible tagged-image references, and the Family Tree’s own attachments.

The summary distinguishes unique files from person references. One shared photograph or certificate can appear under several people while remaining one stored file. Separate PDF page, range or marked-area references can be opened independently without counting the same source file repeatedly.

Use the existing image, PDF or document viewer to inspect an entry. Shared sources still belong to their original owners. Opening the grouped list does not export or copy the files.

Download all as ZIP creates person folders. Download person ZIP limits the package to one group. Duplicate views of the same PDF become one full original per person; a file shared by different people can therefore appear in more than one ZIP folder. These copies in a download do not duplicate stored Catalog assets. Read and computer-export rights are checked again when downloading.

Change download filenames changes the names for that download only. To retain a name for later exports, use the media’s Download filename field on its owner record, then save the Person and collection. Original extensions and file contents remain intact.

Watch progress and cancellation, and inspect the resulting folders and any missing-file report. A missing or unavailable source is not silently replaced. For one Person’s structured text and selected original files, Export Person PDF also offers Export ZIP; that archive is different from a chart PDF.
