Choose a Family Chart

Open a Family Tree / Genealogy record and choose Open Family Tree. Select a starting Person, then use Chart layout. The six layouts below use the same permitted Person records and recorded connections.

Branching Tree arranges generations with branching parent links, partner groups and sibling connections. It is a useful starting point for understanding ancestry. Radial places the focus in a circle with ancestor sectors and generation bands; unknown parent positions can remain empty. Radial is a diagram, not a portrait-card grid.

Lifespans compares lives along a horizontal date axis. Birth Timeline places people by birth on a vertical date axis while keeping family groups organized. Relationship Timeline combines date-based placement with family connections and partnership joins. Missing dates and placement assumptions need careful interpretation; see the dates guide.

Map displays usable birthplaces for the selected family. It explains geographic origins, not ancestry lines or migration routes. Nationality, residence and DNA percentages are not substitutes for a birthplace.

Changing the layout does not change Person data. Pan by dragging, zoom at the pointer, adjust Zoom speed, use Fit or Full screen, and select a Person to inspect their record. Use fewer generations or a larger export page if the chart is too dense.

All six layouts export to PDF and SVG. WorkFlow is available for Branching Tree, Lifespans, Birth Timeline and Relationship Timeline; Radial and Map cannot be represented by its current editable objects. WorkFlow is a simplified editable diagram and does not promise the same appearance as PDF or SVG.
