DocStudio AI Translation and Side-by-Side Languages

Explains main, secondary, and additional languages, side-by-side columns, Translate (AI), translation settings, dictionaries, and how saved language versions can be reused or reverted.

DocStudio can store multiple document languages in one .wsdoc file.

Start in File > File Settings.

Set Main Language for the original document language, Secondary Language for the most common paired language, and use Add Language for any extra saved or target languages.

If you switch the body layout to Two Columns / Side by Side, DocStudio keeps paragraph pairs so left and right stay aligned. Use in Column 2… fills the right-side paragraph from saved language versions when that language already exists in the file.

Translate (AI) is available from the paragraph and table-cell context menus. You can translate the current paragraph, current cell, current table, or the whole document depending on where you start.

The destination can:

  • overwrite the current scope
  • write to the paired right paragraph in a side-by-side document
  • append the translation below the current paragraph or cell text

Saved language versions are reused when the source content, target language, and translation settings profile still match, so repeated translation requests can avoid a new AI call.

Translation settings… lets you control Reasoning Effort, Verbosity, Field / Industry, Terminology Notes, and an optional translation dictionary. These prompt settings are separate from the Advanced AI Terra tier.

A dictionary is a TableStudio .wstable file. Use language columns such as RO, EN, IT, or the full language names as column headers. Each row should contain matching terms across languages. Example: RO | EN | IT with rows such as Caietul de Sarcini | Employer Requirements | Requisiti del Datore di Lavoro.

Dictionaries can be loaded from your computer, from your personal TableStudio catalog, or from a company/project TableStudio catalog.

Allowed translation languages are: Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Spanish (Latin America), Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

For save/load behavior, see Saving in DocStudio. For context, see WorkStudio Context.

Language setup in File Settings

Main, secondary, and additional languages live in File Settings together with side-by-side layout and column-2 language selection.

Translate (AI) popup

The translation popup keeps scope, destination, credit estimate, and translation controls together before sending anything to the AI server.

Translation settings popup

Translation settings are saved in the file, so the next translation starts with the same model guidance, field context, terminology notes, and dictionary.

Dictionary format and reuse

A .wstable dictionary can guide terminology, and saved language versions can later be reused or reverted without another AI call.
