ROUND / ROUNDUP / ROUNDDOWN

Rounds values to a chosen number of decimals, with ROUND using the nearest value, ROUNDUP moving away from zero, and ROUNDDOWN moving toward zero.

TableStudio supports ROUND, ROUNDUP, RUP, ROUNDDOWN, and RDOWN for numeric rounding. Use them when you want a value displayed or reused with a controlled precision.

=ROUND(value, decimals) rounds to the nearest value at the requested precision. =ROUNDUP(value, decimals) and =RUP(value, decimals) always round away from 0. =ROUNDDOWN(value, decimals) and =RDOWN(value, decimals) always round toward 0.

If the decimals argument is omitted, TableStudio uses 0, so the result is rounded to a whole number. The decimals value is normalized to an integer and limited to the range -12 to 12.

Positive decimals round digits to the right of the decimal separator, such as =ROUND(12.345,2) -> 12.35. Negative decimals round to the left of the decimal separator, such as tens, hundreds, or thousands, for example =ROUND(1256,-2) -> 1300.

The value and decimals arguments can be direct numbers, cell references, or expressions that evaluate to numbers. If the main value cannot be resolved to a number, TableStudio returns an error.

Function

ROUND(value[, decimals])
ROUNDUP(value[, decimals])
RUP(value[, decimals])
ROUNDDOWN(value[, decimals])
RDOWN(value[, decimals])

Parameters

  • value — The number, cell reference, or numeric expression to round.
  • decimals — Optional precision argument. Positive values round digits to the right of the decimal separator, 0 rounds to a whole number, and negative values round tens, hundreds, or more.

Returns

Returns the rounded numeric value at the requested precision. If decimals is omitted, TableStudio uses 0 and returns a whole-number result.

=ROUND(12.345,2) returns 12.35.

=ROUNDDOWN(1299,-2) returns 1200.

Round to 2 decimals

ROUND uses the nearest value, while ROUNDUP and ROUNDDOWN control the direction explicitly.

Round tens and hundreds

Negative decimals round to the left of the separator, so you can round tens, hundreds, or more.
