Add Indirect Cost to a Project
Add Indirect Cost to a Project with a fictional company example.
Create one Indirect Cost record and assign it through Cost Adjustments on the Project, WBS, Phase or BOQ. Descendants inherit it through the parent hierarchy. The same record reference is counted once; a descendant can exclude an inherited adjustment. Separate adjustment records compound sequentially.
This tutorial uses the supported percentage calculation. Choose Direct cost and Percentage 8. The current calculation applies assigned percentages to the priced amount; alternative basis labels such as Labour, Selected records or Fixed amount and the Formula field do not currently create those alternative calculations. Do not use them as if they did.
On 2,868 EUR direct cost, 8% adds 229.44 EUR, giving 3,097.44 EUR before profit. Resource quantities do not increase just because an indirect percentage is assigned.
All companies, prices, quantities, dates and documents are fictional examples. They demonstrate the software, not real offers, project evidence or commercial advice.
Add Indirect Cost to a Project
Follow the on-screen click instructions and highlighted controls. Field entry moves more quickly; pause or use chapters whenever needed. All companies, prices, quantities, dates and documents are fictional examples. They demonstrate the software, not real offers, project evidence or commercial advice.
Create the indirect-cost record
Choose New Record > Indirect Cost. Enter Site support 8% and IND.01.
Set the supported percentage
Set Calculation Basis to Direct cost and Percentage to 8. Leave Formula empty. Save.
Assign it once at the correct level
Open the Project > Edit > Cost Adjustments. Add IND.01 to Indirect Costs. Save.

Inspect inheritance
Open a BOQ item under the Project. Its cost-adjustment indicator identifies the inherited record. Do not create another 8% record just to repeat it on every child.
Check the amount
Recalculate the Project. Verify 2,868 x 0.08 = 229.44 EUR indirect cost and 3,097.44 EUR before profit.
Review exceptions
If a child must exclude the inherited record, remove/exclude it on that child and recheck the resulting total. Changing the source percentage affects all places where it remains assigned.
