Column Type: Text
The flexible base type for plain content, codes, labels, and row-scoped fallback behavior.
Use the text column type for plain editable content such as codes, names, descriptions, and general notes.
Text is also the fallback behavior for rows that sit outside another column type's scope. For example, if a date column is set to Normal Rows Only, WBS phase rows in that same column behave like text.
Text columns work well with Derived formula rules when you want typed input to materialize a richer formula or pattern, such as ={this}+" points" or =TOBJ({this},"",SH6(A1)). For the full derived-template guide, open Derived Formulas.
Codes and names stay literal
Use text when the column should keep exact typed values without date pickers, number formatting, or currency conversion.
